How things actually work at Fangaged
Fangaged exists to help you find your people, not to obscure how things work. This page is a plain-language account of what’s true today — not a sales pitch, and not aspirational. Where something isn’t built yet, we say so.
Reports & Moderation
If you or someone else flags an event, listing, journal entry, or user, it goes into a review queue our team looks at directly. Right now that means a person reviews it and marks it reviewed or dismissed — there’s no fully automated enforcement pipeline yet, and no bulk auto-bans. Chapters can also flag private groups directly to their fandom’s leadership for the same kind of review.
We’re not yet at the point where we automatically notify you of the outcome of a report you filed, or explain to someone why their content was reviewed. That’s a real gap and one we intend to close — for now, if you need to follow up on something specific, contact us directly.
Chapter Leadership & Rules
Every official chapter has a visible leadership roster on its chapter page, once you’re a member — so you always know who’s actually responsible for the community you’ve joined. Chapters can also publish their own rules, and you can revisit them anytime from your chapter’s Rules page, not just the day you joined.
How Fan Organizations Are Ranked
When a fandom lists its affiliated fan organizations, HQ chooses how they’re ordered:
- Alphabetical — A–Z by org name. Neutral default.
- Satisfaction — Orgs with better fan ratings float up.
- Manual Rank — You control the exact position of each org.
- Daily Rotation — Order rotates daily. No org holds a permanent top spot.
The point of having options is the same either way: no organization can buy or grind its way to the top by default.
Your Data
We keep a full account of what we collect and why in our Privacy Policy — the short version is: we don’t sell your data, we use it to run the platform and connect you with your community, and you can delete your account and your data at any time from Settings.
AI at Fangaged
We don’t currently use AI to make decisions about your account, your content, or your standing in a community. If that ever changes, a person stays accountable for the outcome — not an algorithm. That’s a principle we intend to hold ourselves to as the product grows, not just a description of where things happen to stand today.
Partnerships & Money
Links that lead off-platform to ticketing providers or partner offers are marked with a “↗” and a short disclosure — those links may carry affiliate tracking that supports Fangaged. On the marketplace, a small platform fee applies to transactions, and part of every purchase supports the chapter or fandom it’s tied to. Vendors and venue partners listed on Fangaged are independently responsible for their own listings — see our Terms of Service for the full legal detail on marketplace and partnership relationships.
This Page Will Keep Growing
Some of what’s described here is still more policy than product — a review queue instead of a full moderation system, a written explanation instead of an in-app one. As we build more of this directly into the product, this page will get more specific, not less. Principles endure; how we live up to them keeps evolving.
