Privacy Policy

Fangaged ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have. By using Fangaged, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and any profile details you provide (display name, avatar photo, city). Account authentication is handled by Clerk — your password is never seen or stored by Fangaged.

Fan story & community data. We store the fan profile you build on the platform: your fan intensity, origin story, defining fan moment, fan-since year, emotional tags, identity tags, and journal entries. This data is tied to specific fandoms and is used to personalize your community experience.

Location data. We collect the city you provide during onboarding and optionally use it to place you on the fan heatmap. We do not collect precise GPS coordinates.

Payment information. Subscription payments (Founding Fan, $4.99/month) are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number — Stripe handles all payment data under their own PCI-compliant infrastructure.

Activity data. We collect records of your fandom memberships, XP earned, chapter affiliations, event check-ins, marketplace interactions, and notifications you receive.

Device & usage data. We may collect standard web analytics data (browser type, pages visited, referral source) to improve the platform.

2. How We Use Your Information

To operate the platform and your account
To match you with your fan community (chapter suggestions, nearby fans)
To send you platform notifications and emails you opt into
To process subscription payments and send receipts
To display your public fan profile within your chosen fandoms
To enforce our Terms of Service and keep the platform safe
To improve our features and fix bugs

We do not use your data for automated profiling that produces legal or significant effects on you.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party processors who may access your data to provide their services:

Clerk — authentication and session management. clerk.com/privacy
Supabase — database storage (your fan data, fandoms, events). Hosted on AWS. supabase.com/privacy
Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing. stripe.com/privacy
Mapbox — interactive maps and fan heatmap. City coordinates are sent to Mapbox to render the map. mapbox.com/legal/privacy

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We share data only with the processors listed above as necessary to operate the platform, and with law enforcement when required by law.

Information you post publicly on the platform — such as your fan story, journal highlights you choose to share, and your presence on the fan heatmap — is visible to other fans within your fandom community.

5. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights including access to your data, correction, deletion, and opting out of certain uses. To exercise any of these rights:

Delete your account: Go to Settings → Delete Account. This removes your data from the platform immediately.
Access or export your data: Email us at hello@fangaged.com with "Data Request" in the subject line.
Opt out of marketing emails: Use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or email us.

6. Cookies & Local Storage

We use cookies and browser local storage to operate the platform:

Session cookies set by Clerk for authentication
A beta_access cookie to remember beta access during early launch
An embed_fandom cookie to maintain your embed portal session
Local storage entries for PWA install prompt preferences and UI state

We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

7. Children

Fangaged is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at hello@fangaged.com and we will delete the account.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and notify you via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of Fangaged after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
